SVEN SIMULACRUM MASALA MASH

"I have watched with awe how the progressive lobby turned al-Qaeda recruit
David Hicks into a relentless, irrecusable and finally triumphant national cause...In terms of marketability, it is easier to sell a terrorist than an Australian Aborigine subjected to ongoing racial discrimination by the country's laws relating to native land title."

The Wire Magazine (Feb 2007) on the Pulled Out Pink Vinyl...

"...Anthony Guerra, Matt Earle, Sumugan Sivanesan and Nick Dan ruck 'n' wreck the classic bass, drums, guitar combo into a thick, crunchy gale of righteous off-kilter riot-groove. The piece ends with a long and beautiful neon ribbon of feedback that carves a vivid sine-wave of blood-red intensity across a stage scene fading to black and bleeding carmine crimson around the after image of a group on fire."

THE BALLAD OF DAVID HICKS
December 9 2006 marks 5 years that Australian citizen, David Hicks has been held at Guantanamo Bay – without trial, having broken no laws, and still having had no charges brought against him!

Hicks has been isolated in solitary confinement, since March this year, and according to his defense counsel Major Michael Mori, has been subject to torture and abuse.

The military commissions which were to try him, were found illegal by the US Supreme court in June 2006, for amongst other things, violating the 1949 Geneva Conventions, and brought to an immediate halt. (The new commissions which were set up in October, are currently being challenged in the US courts, so it would still be several years before Hicks would be brought to trial regardless...).

The US will not tolerate having its own citizens tried via such a system, and nor will countries such as the UK, Bahrain, Denmark, France, Jordan, Pakistan, Russia, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden and even Afghanistan, which have all sought and secured the release of their own citizens.

According to Major Michael Mori, the Australian Government need only ask and Hicks would be released immediately. As of December 2006 the Australian Government have still refused to do so.

ANTI–SEDITION RIDDIM
Horror Dancehall – The Australian Anti-Terrorism Act 2005 is intended to hamper the activities of any potential terrorists in Australia.
The proposed laws have been criticised for their ability to silence expression and public criticism of the government, particularly in a country that has no constitutional rights of free speech.
